Concord Sonata: The Alcotts (Arr. for 2 Electric Guitars)
An arrangement for two electric guitars (both me!) of the third movement of the Charles Ives' Concord Sonata for Piano, written in the early years of the 20th Century. This piece features quotations from Beethoven and hymn tunes, juxtaposed against bi-tonal sections, and interspersed with early American parlour song. Ives was an experimentalist who was decades ahead of other composers in his approach to tonality and collage. This arrangement tries to capture not only experimental nature of the piece, but also the reflective and introspective lyricism of the sections.
